Eastern Panhandle of WV

by Kim
(Virginia Beach, VA)

I used to live in Berkely Springs, WV as a small child ('67-'72). I am thinking of making a girl friends weekend trip (late June) there to explore and see what has changed. I know Hagerstown, MD, Charles Town, WV & Martinsburg are near. We would be looking for charming historical districts with boutiques, cafes & bakeries, tearooms, some inexpensive spa opportunities and maybe special events like fairs/wineries. (Not interested in hiking or canoeing, malls, fast food, etc....) Is there enough to do in that area now to make a full 2-3 trip?

I'm not familiar with the area, but there are a couple of "reviews" on TripAdvisor that you might find helpful. They are a couple of years old, but I'm sure much of the information is still valid.

Sounds like there are lots of spas, shopping, and B&B's to visit; it also sounds like it has an arts community, which makes for interesting shopping.

I think it would be a great place for a 2 - 3 day girls getaway!
