What is more beautiful than a Hawaii sunset?

Like most tourists, I've taken my share of Hawaii vacation photos, and plenty of Hawaii sunset photos!

In March 2006, I took a trip with my sisters to Kona Hawaii. These are some of the sunsets we enjoyed!

Sunset on the Kona Coast

This is on the Kona side of the Big Island, where we stayed in March, 2006. This was taken outside of the resort, overlooking the ocean.

Essentially the same area, but slightly different view - and very different sky!! Note the changes in color!

Sunset at the Place of Refuge

These photos were taken at the Place of Refuge on the Kona coast. The Place of Refuge is a sacred place that used to offer sanctuary to those who broke laws or where outcasts for other reasons.

It was difficult to get to - at the time, access was by ocean only, and the person seeking refuge had to swim to get there - but if you survived the trip, you were granted sanctuary.

Today, it is open to the public as a park, and has some of the best scenery for Hawaii Big Island photos. As always, sunsets are spectacular!
